We are excited to announce that the long-awaited personal IBANs are now available to all our users!

With this new feature, you can transform your self-custodial wallet into something more: a universal account that seamlessly sends and receives money across both blockchain and traditional banking networks.

This evolution is a major step toward making self-custody more convenient and integrated into everyday life.

Let's dive in!

What is the personal crypto IBAN

An IBAN is an address used for payments through the banking system. It typically identifies a bank account, but in our case, it identifies a crypto wallet. This means that when a bank transfer is sent to your IBAN, the funds arrive directly in your own wallet - which you fully control - instead of an account controlled by a bank.

When you create a personal IBAN with us, here are the different things that you can choose:

The currency

We currently offer IBANs denominated in either euros or Swiss francs. Your choice determines the currency in which you can send and receive bank transfers.

The blockchain

This is the default network where your funds will be received, unless specified otherwise by a purchase reference in the bank transfer. You can select any of the 15 blockchains that we support.

The cryptocurrency

The default crypto-asset into which incoming funds will be automatically converted when a bank transfer arrives on your IBAN, unless otherwise specified. You can choose any of the cryptocurrencies that we support on the chosen blockchain.

The receiving address

This choice determines the default wallet address where your cryptocurrencies will be delivered upon receiving a bank transfer. It can be your Bridge Wallet address or any other wallet address (Ledger, Trezor, Metamask, etc) that has been linked to your user profile with us. See how to link an address for more details.

Please note that your choices of the chain, cryptocurrency and receiving address define where your funds go by default, if no other information is provided in the bank transfer. However, you can still use your personal IBAN to receive other cryptos on different chains and wallet addresses by including a purchase reference in the transfer.

To send bank transfers from your personal IBAN, you can use any supported crypto from any supported chain and any of your wallet addresses, it is not limited by the default chain, crypto and wallet that you have selected when creating your personal IBAN.

Receive bank transfers from others

Your personal IBAN can receive bank transfers from anyone, not just accounts in your name. This allows you to receive money from friends and family, as well as from companies and institutions like insurance providers, tax offices, and more.

It also means you can share your personal IBAN with your employer to receive your salary, effectively getting paid in crypto without any consequence for you or for them.

If you are a business user, you can use the IBAN to receive bank transfers from your customers.

Send bank transfers to anyone

With your IBAN, you can send bank transfers using cryptocurrencies from your wallet to others, who simply see a banking transfer sent from your name. This works for payments to friends and family, but also to cover all your bills like rent, utilities, insurances, suppliers, etc.

Unlock your freedom

This new feature is a huge milestone for us. From the very first day, our mission has been to promote self-custody and make it simple enough to become a genuine, practical alternative to a traditional bank account.

Today, that vision has become reality. By giving your wallet its own personal IBAN, it becomes a powerful tool that lets you hold and manage your money entirely on your own terms—no intermediaries, no third-party custody—while still being able to make transactions with the rest of the world.

It becomes a tool to opt-out from the custody of the banking system, the key to unlock your financial freedom.

There are no limits as such, but please note that to comply with our regulatory obligations, transfers to/from others may be subject to extra checks and requests for information.
