What is a crypto IBAN for business?

A crypto IBAN for business is a bank account number issued in your company's legal name and linked to its self-custodial wallet instead of a regular bank account.

When a bank transfer is sent to it, the amount is automatically converted into the crypto of your choice on one of the 16 chains we support. When you need to make a payment, it sends a bank transfer from the same IBAN but funded with crypto from one of your wallets.

No crypto knowledge required from your counterparties: your clients see an ordinary bank transfer to your company's name, your employees and suppliers see an ordinary bank transfer from your company's name. Meanwhile your treasury never sits in a bank: it stays on-chain in a wallet that only your company controls.

How your business IBAN works

When you create your company IBAN, you make the following four choices to set up where incoming money goes by default:

The fiat currency

Today we offer IBANs in CHF or EUR. This determines the currency in which the IBAN sends and receives bank transfers. A CHF IBAN accepts local Swiss transfers, a EUR IBAN accepts SEPA transfers.

The blockchain

The default network on which your IBAN receives funds. You can choose any of the 16 networks that we support.

The cryptocurrency

The default crypto that incoming transfers are converted into. Any of the 30+ cryptocurrencies we support are available.

The receiving address

The default wallet address where the crypto is delivered. It can be any self-custodial wallet: Bridge Wallet, Safe, Ledger, Trezor, MetaMask, Rabby, etc.

💡 You are not limited by these default settings

The choices you make above only define what happens without further instructions. You can still have funds sent to your IBAN be converted into other cryptocurrencies by using a reference in the transfer, and you can fund outgoing bank transfers using any crypto from any chain we support.

Regular business use of the IBAN is possible, but it is reviewed and approved case-by-case for each company.

Please note that Mt Pelerin is not a bank, the crypto IBAN is a payment and conversion tool between banking networks and blockchains, not a general purpose banking account.

During the onboarding we review the nature of your activity, and we may ask for supporting documentation such as contracts, invoices or payroll records before approving an IBAN.

The fastest way to know where you stand is to get in touch with us first, we reply fast!

FAQ about business IBANs

A crypto IBAN for business is a bank account number issued in your company's legal name and linked to a self-custodial crypto wallet instead of a bank account. When a client or any other counterparty sends a bank transfer to it, the funds are automatically converted into the cryptocurrency your company has chosen and delivered to its own wallet on any of 16 supported blockchains. Your company can also use the same IBAN to send bank transfers to pay salaries, suppliers, rent, insurance and taxes, funded with crypto from its wallet. Counterparties on both sides simply see a standard bank transfer in your company's name.

Yes. Companies, associations and foundations can obtain a crypto IBAN labeled in their legal name, so payments arrive to and leave from the organization's name itself. Eligibility is at the condition of a transparent structure and clear origin of the funds.

A legal director of the organization must go to kyb.mtpelerin.com to register it with us. Once the KYB is approved, you can create your business IBAN on app.mtpelerin.com.

Yes. Put your company IBAN on your invoices and your clients settle them with an ordinary bank transfer from their own bank. Your company receives the amount converted into the cryptocurrency of its choice, directly in its own wallet. Your clients need no crypto knowledge, no wallet and no new process. Please note that we may ask at any time extra information and documentation about your transactions for regulatory compliance.

Yes. Your company can send bank transfers from its IBAN, funded with cryptocurrency held in its wallet, to pay employee salaries. Your employees receive a standard bank transfer from your company on their usual bank account, with no crypto involved on their side. Employees who prefer to be paid in crypto can also obtain their own personal crypto IBAN and share it with you, in which case your company sends an ordinary bank transfer and the employee receives cryptocurrency in their own wallet.

Yes. Any obligation that can be settled by bank transfer can be paid from your company IBAN using cryptocurrency from its wallet: freelancer and supplier invoices, office rent, insurance premiums, utilities, subscriptions, VAT and tax payments. You can add a reference in the bank transfer so the recipient can reconcile the payment.

Company crypto IBANs are available in CHF (Swiss francs) and EUR (euros). The currency determines the currency in which the IBAN can send and receive bank transfers. A CHF IBAN accepts Swiss SIC transfers, a EUR IBAN accepts SEPA transfers from any bank in the SEPA zone.

By default you can have two IBANs, for example one in CHF and one in EUR. Each IBAN has its own default cryptocurrency, blockchain and receiving wallet address. These defaults can be overridden on a per-transaction basis by including a reference in the incoming bank transfer, so one IBAN can receive different cryptocurrencies on different chains and different addresses.

Yes, as long as their structure is fully transparent and their source of funds can be demonstrated clearly.

None at all, you can use your company IBAN without any minimum volume requirements or penalties.

Creating a business crypto IBAN is free and there is no monthly or maintenance fee. Our only fee is a commission on each currency conversion made through the IBAN, based on your annual exchange volume: 0% up to CHF 499, 1.3% from CHF 500 to CHF 4,999, 1.1% from CHF 5,000 to CHF 49,999, 0.9% from CHF 50,000 to CHF 999,999, 0.7% from CHF 1,000,000 to CHF 9,999,999 and 0.6% from CHF 10,000,000. Conversions between fiat currencies and the ZCHF or fxUSD stablecoins are free of exchange fees. Companies holding MPS tokens, our tokenized shares, get free exchange up to CHF 50,000 of volume per year. See our pricing page for more detail.

Any self-custodial wallet can be used with the IBAN, including Bridge Wallet, Safe, Ledger, Trezor, MetaMask, Rabby and more. To use an external wallet, connect and verify it on app.mtpelerin.com in the Addresses tab, then select its address in the receiving address dropdown when creating the IBAN. Incoming funds can be delivered on any of the 16 blockchains we support.

No. Mt Pelerin is a non-custodial service and never holds your funds. Incoming transfers are converted and delivered straight to your own wallet address, and outgoing transfers are funded by crypto your company sends from its own wallets. We act solely as an exchange intermediary between the banking system and your company's self-custodial wallets.

There are no transaction limits in particular, your framework of operation with us is defined during your KYB and if you go beyond it we will simply contact you to update and document your new context.

A crypto IBAN is not a bank account, so the IBAN itself does not have to be declared as one. Your company remains responsible for accounting and declaring its crypto holdings and transactions in accordance with the regulations that apply in its country of incorporation.

The only countries of incorporation that we cannot accept are: Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Belarus, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Central African Republic, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Mainland China (Hong Kong and Taiwan accepted), Mali, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Niger, North Korea, Russia, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Trinidad and Tobago, United States, Venezuela, Yemen, Zimbabwe.

Yes. A verified company account gives access to the full service: buying and cashing out crypto in 18 fiat currencies, swapping between 30+ cryptocurrencies and bridging across 16 blockchains, all delivered to and from the company's own wallet. Yes. To pay a Swiss QR-bill with your business IBAN, go to app.mtpelerin.com in the "IBAN" tab, click on "Send" and at the bottom of the screen click on "Pay an invoice". You will then have various options to provide your Swiss QR-bill and pay it.
