ZCHF FAQ

Find below the answers to the most common questions about the Swiss Franc stablecoin. When available, we give you links to in-depth articles for further reading.

The Frankencoin (ZCHF) is a decentralized stablecoin that follows the price of the Swiss Franc. It is backed by a transparent and over-collateralized reserve (~200%) of crypto-assets, mainly constituted of various wrapped Bitcoin and Ether tokens.

Right now, 1 ZCHF is worth MXN .

Right now, 1 Mexican peso is equal to ZCHF.

A stablecoin is a type of cryptocurrency designed to have the same value as a given fiat currency, like the US dollar. Its purpose is to let users invest in and out of volatile crypto-assets easily while remaining on chain, to facilitate crypto payments, and to denominate the price of other tokens in currencies that people are familiar with.

The ZCHF is backed by a 200% overcollateralized reserve of crypto-assets mainly composed of wrapped Bitcoin and ETH tokens. It is audited and the state of its reserve can be monitored in real time on the Frankencoin website, so it's reasonable to say that the ZCHF is safe.

The ZCHF is designed to follow the price of the Swiss franc, it is therefore determined by it. Maintaining such peg mechanism is challenging, and it is possible for the ZCHF to deviate from the Swiss franc price for various technical or market reasons.

You never store ZCHF in itself. Instead, you store the private key giving you access and control over a wallet address that contains ZCHF. That key is stored in a wallet, which provides an interface to use it. To learn more, read our in-depth guide on storing crypto assets.
