The S token is the native utility and governance token of the Sonic blockchain, a high-performance EVM-compatible Layer-1 network designed for DeFi and Web3 applications. It powers the ecosystem by enabling users to pay transaction fees (gas), stake for network security and earn rewards via a proof-of-stake consensus model, participate in governance decisions, and benefit from fee monetization programs where developers can earn up to 90% of app-generated fees. Sonic supports over 400,000 transactions per second (TPS) with sub-second finality, seamless Ethereum bridging via the Sonic Gateway, and an airdrop program with burn mechanisms to control supply inflation.
